SDSU’s own ASME members participated in the 2018 E-Fest Student Design Competition hosted at the Fairplex in Pomona on March 23-25. The team, led by project lead Dylan Ramirez and electronics lead Pierce Howell, made it to the semifinals of the four-way robot soccer tournament. The task was to build a team of robots to compete in the tournament: our university’s team strategized and constructed one defense robot, a midfield robot, and an attacking (or forward) robot; each designed to function specifically for their respective positions. The team advanced through three preliminary rounds in order to get to the semifinals, which consisted of two matches, and missed out on the finals by a mere two points.
